What the service processes

ScholarSignal uses your project text to produce an evaluation and match research opportunities. Your submitted projects are not published as public examples or shown in another user’s account. Processing involves service providers described below; it does not happen entirely on your device.

• Account: email address, verified authentication identity, sign-in information, plan, radar consent and selected project.
• Research: project titles, descriptions, stages, target journals, embeddings, each submitted version and its evaluation. An optional ORCID is used to look up your public scholarly record through ORCID/OpenAlex.
• Operations: evaluation status, processing attempts, model usage and cost records, email delivery status, radar matches and feedback you submit.
• Billing: customer and subscription identifiers, paid periods, status and payment-event records. Card entry and payment processing take place through Stripe; ScholarSignal does not collect card numbers in its own forms.
• Product measurement: page and referral information, campaign parameters, and account-linked events such as viewing the Pro offer, checkout, payment, evaluation use, renewal and cancellation. Server requests may also produce operational logs.

Accounts, cookies and private links

Sign-in uses an emailed code through Supabase Auth. Verifying the address lets us connect earlier projects submitted under that address. Account pages use a secure session cookie to keep you signed in; this is necessary for the account to work.

Evaluation and feed emails can contain private links that grant access to a result or feed without another sign-in. Anyone you forward such a link to may be able to read it. Treat these links as private. Signing out of the account does not revoke previously shared result links.

Processing providers

Supabase supports account authentication and data storage. Vercel serves the website and its APIs. Resend delivers service emails. Stripe manages checkout, subscriptions, invoices and the billing portal. Workflow infrastructure processes queued evaluations and radar updates.

AI requests use OpenRouter and the model providers selected through its routing. Project text and relevant profile information may be included in evaluation, embedding and ranking requests. The application requests a routing restriction excluding providers classified by OpenRouter as collecting submitted text for training. That restriction is not a zero-retention guarantee; provider handling and retention depend on the applicable service policies.

Literature discovery queries OpenAlex. The service may send search terms derived from your research idea, and retrieves public scholarly records. Model and provider configuration can change; evaluation reports include provider details where available.

This page does not promise that every processing step stays in a particular country. Contact us for information about the current processing setup before submitting material with institutional, contractual or sensitive-data restrictions.

History, cancellation and deletion

Each completed evaluation is kept with its submitted inputs so you can revisit it. Archiving a project removes it from the active project count and radar; it does not delete the project or its history. Cancelling Pro stops renewal. Existing access continues through the paid period, and saved history remains readable afterwards.

Unsubscribing from radar email does not delete your account, research or billing records. You can request access, correction or deletion through the contact form (topic: privacy request). We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner. Required billing records may need to be retained even when research data is deleted; ask us about a specific request.

Email preferences

Sign-in codes, evaluation results and billing-related messages support the service you request. Weekly radar delivery requires opt-in and can be turned off from your account or an unsubscribe link. Saving a preference does not guarantee that a digest will be available in every week.

Your rights

You can contact the controller to ask about your personal data and exercise applicable rights, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection. You can withdraw radar consent without cancelling your account. You also have the right to complain to a relevant data protection authority.
